Perfect Date Night Looks

So it's date night, don't know what to wear?! Well here's some inspiration!

The first one is a girly look, it would be perfect if your stye inspiration is Taylor Swift, or Selena Gomez, this would be great for you.

girly date

Second, is a colourful style, this would be great if you like celebrity styles like Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj. It's almost colour blocking, but not quite. It's fun and happy.

colourful date

Next would be an edgier option. This would be for the ladies who adore celebs like Kat Von D, Rihanna, or even a little bit of Snooki's style. Leather and animal print will make your date's eyes glue to you!

edgy date

Next, would be a more boho-ish look. The dress is a bit short, and looks like a tee-shirt, which I love. If your style icons include people like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, or Miley Cyrus, this is for you!

boho date

Finally, would be a simple casual look. Pretty much this is for anyone who isn't really fashion forward. It includes basic pieces that you either already have, or are found at most stores.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Clear Your Skin for Less then 20$

I know that some recent skincare products i have seen can be quite pricey. Like Proactive, Murad, Clinique, Philosophy, and Clarisonic. Yes, most of those products, based on the reviews, do work outstandingly, but not everyone has 40$ to spend on one cleanser. There are some more price friendly products that can work just as well.
This is really directed for acne prone skin, as well as oily skin. I'll do a post about sensitive/normal skin another day. Because I don't have that type of skin, I'll have to do more research for it.

To start, you are going to want to remove all your makeup, Olay Daily Cleansing cloths work on all skin types, and remove even waterproof makeup. (this is optional, so I'm not counting it on for the 20$)

You are going to want to cleanse your skin. What this does is it cleans your pores of any excess makeup or oil your face has built up throughout the day. If you didn't do this step, your pores would be clogged and you would probably develop some sort of blemish the next day. Your pores need to breath, and keeping the oil inside them will collect bacteria, causing a breakout.

Try Clean and Clear Morning Burst Cleaner for Shine Control. You don't just have to use it in the morning, you can use it anytime. It does work great in the morning because it will assist for face from becoming too oily under your makeup. It sells for about 6$ at drugstores.

Next, I love using exfoliators, with my type of skin, I can use them everyday without irritation. The Clean and Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub is by far my favourite skin care product ever! It feels like you just dunked your face in an arctic cruise, meaning its super cooling and refreshing. It clears my breakouts in a few days.

Finally, you are going to want to moisturize! For oily and acne prone skin it is crucial that you use and oil-free product! I especially love this one because it smoothes you skin, when you put it on, it feels like your skin is silk or something! I have been using this for about 4 years, and I don't use it everyday anymore because I don't have acne, but when I would get a breakout this helped, and its oil free! You can get it a drug stores for 9$.

All of these products are less then 20$, way better then going to a department store, or even sephora! I hope this helped! Sensitive skin coming soon!

I cut it all off.

I don't really have much time to write a whole post, but I didn't want to not put something up today! I posted last week about how much I hated my hair. Well I decided to cut it all off! I also dyed it to the natural colour, which I haven't had since I was about 10, I got highlights when I was 10. I got about 8 inches cut off. It's an asymmetrical bob, meaning longer on one side. Here are some photos:

before

after

Also, I use a mini flat iron now, because I only have 2 flat irons, one is 1.5 inches, and it's hard to use with such short hair. So I use a travel sized one that is 0.5 inches. It works much better.
Anyways, I will be doing reviews of products all next week. (it's reading week, so I will have lots of time for that!)

Dry Skin Solutions

This winter season has not only brought insane weather, but also it has brought me dry skin! So dry that it has made my eczema flare up so badly! It has been so bad, that I had eczema on my face for the last 3 weeks. It's constantly itchy. Every product seems to make my face worse. This has never happened to me, I've always had combo skin. I have been using quite a few products to help with this, and i think I've got it under control, finally.

Clinique Dramatically Different:
I use a thick coat of this at night, and when I wake up,my skin is so hydrated and smooth. It has a funny smell though, like an old lady maybe. But it works, so I dont care! You can get it at department stores or Sephora for about 13$ for a 1.7oz tube.

Vaseline Dry Skin:
I use this on my legs, feet and arms. It smells really good, and it feels like a water based lotion, which I prefer. It has vitamens E & A & B. This really does make my skin feel soooooo smooth. Especially after I wax my legs! You can get it at Wal-Mart for less the 10$.

Olay Skin Smoothing Cream Scrub:

I usually would use a harsh anti-acne face scrub, but that really dries out my face. This gets rid of all the dead skin, and washes away any excess makeup. You know that feeling after you wash your face and it dries, and it gets all tight? Well after I use this, that doesn't happen, it feels like there's moisturizer inside it. You can get it at Wal-Mart for around 11$.

Bio Oil (Vitaderm):

I have stretch marks on my thighs, and they get really itchy, and no cream would fix it. So I got Vitaderm, which it the Shoppers Drug Mart brand of Bio Oil (they have the exact same ingredients). I just apply it with a cotton ball and massage it on the the area, and it moisturizes and helps get rid of my stretch marks. You can get it at any drug store for between 10 - 15$.

Spring Trend Alert!

Where do I start? I LOVE MAXI SKIRTS!! I have been to at leads 5 malls and shopping plazas, looking for the perfect maxi skirt. This sounds easy right? Wrong. Firstly, it's hard because I am on the border of being 6ft tall, so finding a maxi that is actually a maxi, is impossible. Also, I really want a white chiffon high low elastic waist skirt. Once again, impossible. Anyways, I did though, through my searching, find out that they are pretty much sold at ever other store out there. So it's safe to assume that they are an obvious trend. I feel like they can be a hit or miss item. You can either wear it, and let it wear you, or you can wear it and make it one awesome statement piece.
I didn't really categorize these as I normally would, I just used inspiration from other fashion sites, everyday life, tv, etc, blah blah blah! So on with it, here it is...

Untitled #30

I love how stylish this looks. Red is such a fabulous colour, it's sexy, so is this high waisted maxi skirt. The slit itself is a statement. I kept the accessories more simple because of the red and the slit.

Untitled #29

This look is very boho, and casual. This maxi is so perfect, but has to be worn with a simple top.

Untitled #33

This one os really simple, but perfect for a winter spring transition! and isn't the purple great!

Untitled #32

Untitled #34

This one is definitely my favourite! This is how I would wear it, it is casual yet classy.

Untitled #31

I made this one ESPECIALLY for you bargain hunters! the whole outfit here is only 93$! And I thought it was so cute and girly!

Hope you enjoyed, have a great weekend :)

I hate my hair!

So over the Christmas holidays, I decided to try out ombred hair, you know, where it goes from dar to light, like this:

Because my hair has been dyed black for quite sometime, for almost 7 years, with the occasional red or blondish thrown in. And from march 2011-july2011 it had been red:
and then faded into brownish, reddish, purpleish
and then i dyed it back to black

and it faded, and faded, so now it looks like this:
but more blonde on the ends.

So here's the issue, when my hair was black a few months ago, I would use demi-permanent hair color from Sally Beauty, about once a month. Because as you can tell, I like to change up my hair color, and I knew that it would fade quickly. But I guess because it was dyed so much, it stained it, and now it wont come out. It had to be bleached 3 times to get the ends that light. And as you can imagine, my hair is now fried, frizzy, and sooooo dammaged beyond repair.

I am really considering just saying screw it, and cut it all off. But then again I dont because I had a bob about 2 years ago, and loved it, but then the novelty wore off after about 2 months and i was ready for long hair again. And it has grown so much since then.

But now its just untamable. And cutting it, then getting extensions isn't an option, because they are really expensive, like a semester's tuition amount expensive.

Should I cut it off?

OOTD: 02-14-2012

I know I've been m.i.a the last week, but you can blame tests on that!
But I'm back in action this week! I have exciting posts to share and maybe a tutorial?
So anyways, I had a huge shopping trip on Saturday, 6 whole hours, 3 malls, and a few downtown shops. I got this great orange knit sweater from Forever21. It's a huge step for me because I am known for wearing black head to toe every day of the year (with occasional greys and navies).

IMG_0853
I paired it with a bandage dark plum high waist skirt, also from Forever21.
IMG_0840
As for accessories, I chose a infinity scarf (or circle scarf) from H&M, and a Kenneth Cole Reaction clutch from Winners.

And the boots are from Payless Shoes, they are soooo comfy!

Obsessions of the week: 02/12-18/12

So this week I didn't really fall in love or re-fall in love with any products. I really didn't wear much makeup this week at all, as walking outside in minus ten for six hours really dried out my face. So foundation and powder was a big no go this week, and still to this day. Anyways, on a better note, my hair has been really soft and healthy lately, as I re-bleached it and made it really frizzy 2 weeks ago. So I was on a mission to make it soft again!

I got a few, okay like 6, new fragrances in the past like 10 days, and my favourite right now is the Pink Fresh Vanillas in Feeling Flirty. And It is, as the name says, very vanilla-ey and fruity, like citrusy.

Zoya Anchor base coat. I was using the OPI Natural Base Coat for almost 2 years, and I wanted to try something new. This did the trick! On the box it says your polish won't peel, which I HATE. And so far, no peeling.

I have been wearing this super bright Barbie pink lipstick all week. It is the Pink Friday lipstick from MAC, which was only sold for one day, but Pink Nouveau or Saint Germain are very similar colours.

And as I mentioned, my hair was a bit dry, and the Argon oil helped revive it.

I forgot to add Sun-in. I feel like this is for kids, but I used to use it when I had blonde hair, and now that I'm trying to lighten my hair, this has been helping, and it really does work!

That is all, have a good day!

Obsessions of the Week: 02/5-12/12

Hello all! I have been travelling all weekend and didn't have time to post on Friday or Monday, so apologies.
Anyways, while I was travelling, I thought of some interesting rings I could post about, because I have yet to make a tutorial (lack of a tripod), I have been writing on here almost everyday to make up for it. So today will start a weekly post about what products/stuff I am loving of the week. Some weeks may have like 10 things, others could have just one. I might also do a product I don't like of the month (idea from xsparkage). But right now Im sticking with just the few that I love. ALSO!! This month I decided to go on a "no beauty buying" binge, I fuss you could call it... So far I have not bought anything beauty in a whole week (beauty meaning nothing nail, makeup, or other skin care or hair type stuff)!

So here they are, my products of the week:

IMG_0782
(sorry about it being blurry, I took it and ran out the door to catch a train!)

Maybelline Falsies Flared, I have used about 5 tubes of the regular one, and then went to go buy another one, and saw this, and really, the formula is the same, the brush is just different shaped, but I still love it!

Olay Total Effects Eye Cream, this product works really well, my under eyes tend to get really dry, and this helps. I also have noticed the tiny lines slowly disappearing.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects, I recently got acrylic nails, and tried this out on them, and i loved them! They were so fun, and lasted the whole 8 days without chipping, peeling or coming off at all.

IMG_0709
those are the ones I used! ^

Doir Show Brow Styler, this is the best brow product I have used, it is a more soft effect on me, which I needed, I tend to do my bows a little too dark and a little too strong.

Loreal Infalliable Lip gloss in Sunset, I picked this up completely on a whim, and it paid off, its the perfect nude colour for me and lasts the labeled 6 hours.

CHI Silk Infusions, I got this product a long time ago, and when I bleached the ends of my hair it became frizzy and dry, so using this really helped.

Maybelline Eye Tattoo in Painted Purple, well this product is love and hate, love because it lasts all day and the colour payoff is excellent, but its difficult to apply.

And I just threw in that brush because when Im in a hurry this is the only brush I use with my Naked palette

Okay, that is all!

7 Brushes You Can't Live Without

So yet, another basic, kit must have post. These are helpful posts because when I was starting out with makeup and developing a kit, I was reading posts like these, and found them really helpful.
There really is only 10 brushes you need, or less, depending on what makeup looks you want to achieve. The prices really depend on the company, quality, and if they are synthetic or not. Personally, I don't use real hair brushes, I just prefer to use synthetic (meaning not real hair, usually plastic fibres or something like that [not harmful at all])

1. Powder Brush:

  • Function; applying translucent powder, powder foundation, or some other form of setting powder.
  • It's usually the largest brush in a selection
  • A good one should be dense, fluffy, and soft, with a thick handle

Real Techniques Powder Brush - 10$ Synthetic
MAC 134 - 62.50$ "Natural Fibre"

2. Foundation Brush:

  • Function; applying liquid products to a large area of skin, and blending out concealer
  • Usually synthetic, bristles are in a ^ shape to apply product in small areas (like the nose corner)
  • A good one should be soft and have stiffer construction to them

Mark Foundation Brush - 8$

3. Angled Contour
  • Function; applying bronzer and/or blush
  • Usually not as dense as a powder, bristles are longer
  • A good one should not shed and be too thick

4. Angled Liner
  • Function; eyebrows, eyeliner, and/or gel liner
  • This brush is small and not very dense, so its great for a precise application
  • It's better if they are synthetic so the product doesn't get trapped

Crown Brush Taklon Angled Line - 3$

5. Blending/Fluffy Brush

  • Function; blending shadows
  • One should be dense and have longer bristles for best application
  • Usually has a longer handle for less controlled applications

MAC 224 - 30$

6. Pencil Brush

  • Function; precise application of eyeshadows on the top and bottom lid
  • Dense, compact fibres
  • A good one should be thick and not flimsy when you touch it, it should really apply like a pencil

Crown Precision Pencil - 5$

7. Multi-Use Brush

  • Function; wet/dry products, concealer, eyeliner, and foundation
  • Make sure the bristles feel soft, you don't want one that feels like a foundation brush
  • Use one that is small enough to use on your eyelid, but big enough to use on covering blemishes

Bobbi Brown Touch Up Brush - 28$

So there you have it! A small intro to brushes, and their functions! I hope this helped :)

lol my first haul

So, I was testing out my new camera, and i recorded this, not that great aha.

Jeffery Campbell Litas

Oh maa gawd. I love these shoes. I feel like they are popping up more and more everyday. They are very unique heels, something that I have not ever seen before. They are structured like a platform, where there is a heel and a platform on the ball of your foot so it isn't bent like a ballerina. The heel on these are wooden, which is a statement shoe wise. I made a set according to my style, to show you how I would wear these. I think these are really a more causal dressy shoe. That made no sense, but basically they make your dressier outfit look a little more casual, and also, I wouldn't recommend wearing these with like yoga pants or sweats.

Girly:
Colourful:
Comfy/Cozy/Effortless:
How I Would Wear it:

what id wear litas

As you can tell I dont like colour. I love cross body bags though, I own at least 10.

You can pretty much buy litas anywhere online, here are a few sites to buy the real Jeffery Campbell's:
Nasty Gal - 162$ (huge selection)

If you aren't willing to dish out almost 200$ for the real deal, then I found a site where they have replicas:
Make Me Chic - 30-40$ (if you click on 'ankle boots' they have more colours/patterns)

Hope you enjoyed!
